Teresa Flavin

Teresa Flavin is another wonderful illustrator I stumbled upon in my Google perusings. I love the color and texture of her illustrations. However, I must say that the thumbnail images of her portfolio didn't draw my interest too well, yet with each click I was more
than pleasantly surprised by the piece as a whole. Of course thumbnails can only show so much, but even a fellow illustrator, meaning me, can be guilty of passing over an illustration or two if the thumbnail isn't striking.

New sketches

Little Jenn is one of my recent sketches. October has been a busy month and I haven't had as much time to draw as I'd like. Between paying the rent by way of website design and integration and fighting Maryland's state healthcare system I've been a bit exhausted.
Also, Mr. Badger is a drawing I may actually render digitally. I have 29 days remaining on my 30-day trial of Painter X.
If I can't get the hang of it within the week then I'll stick with my loveable pastels and give it another try later on.
So far I like the potential of the program. There is much that is intuitive about the program but of course there is still much more that is not.

The Beautiful Illustrations of Peter McCarty

Little Bunny on the Move won "Best Illustrated Book of the Year" from the New York Times in 1999. Certainly I am a bit late in hearing this news but I think I would have to applaud them for their selection. There is a peaceful, beautiful simplicity to his drawings that I is nothing less than magical. However, as a dog lover, I would have to favor Hondo & Fabian above the rabbit.
